Credentials for Tiffany Cyr,
Owner/Trainer of Chipper Kyle Farm

Tiffany Cyr and Spartan at Fox Run Farm (NJ) in 1975.

Tiffany Cyr has been riding for 35 years. While living in Colt's Neck, NJ she learned about little smart ponies in her own backyard. She took lessons from Sandy Sternberg, a student of George Morris, and at Tri Corn Farm in Holmdel. There were summer clinics, A-circuit shows, and the Monmouth County Hunt Pony Club. After becoming a Pony Club member, her focus shifted to eventing. She spent summers in Vermont endurance riding, and attended clinics at Merry Meadow Farm, and Green Mountain Horse Association (GMHA) in Vermont.
When Tiffany turned 12, the family moved to Vermont permanently, and she joined the Upper Valley Pony Club, which met at GMHA's grounds. There were cross country clinics with Beth Perkins on Reeves Mountain, International dressage clinicians, instruction from Tad Coffin, Michael Plumb, Bruce Davidson, Denny Emerson, and regular lessons with Heather Davis. Some events were Huntington Farm, Vershire, Merry Meadow, GMHA, and Applewood in N.H. She attended Pony Club Rallies in VT, NH, and NJ. In 1977, Tiffany constructed her first cross country course on 30 acres in Thetford, VT for her Tb/Welsh cross. There were always plenty of horses or ponies to ride and train at the barn.

After moving back to NJ in 1983, she instructed several summers at riding camps, and worked with racehorses at two large barns in Monmouth County. Tiffany received instruction at Los Alamos in Freehold, with Gail Hoff-Carmona, and from Larry Poulin in Maine. In addition to hunter jumper shows, 35-mile rides, and events throughout both Area I and Area ll, she added another discipline, driving, to the list.
In 1997 Tiffany began pursuing her dream of becoming an organizer. After a two-year search, the right property was selected in Low Hampton, NY. She consulted with USEA Technical Delegates and Course Designers on layout and design, then began an in-depth study of cross country course plans and jump building. Construction of obstacles at Chipper Kyle Farm began in 2002.
On her farm, Tiffany is course designer with co-builder Rick Cyr. They have three boys, and lots of animals. She employs training methods that are based heavily on sensitive communication with the horse; a blend of both classical and natural horsemanship techniques." It has a lot to do with gradations of trust," she says. Whether the horse has never been backed, green broke, needs retraining, or behavior modification, makes no difference. She specializes in event training through Preliminary level, and her light frame makes it possible to work with ponies as small as 12 hands. Tiffany is comfortable with all breeds and has started many youngsters.
"For horses to be happy in sport, they need to feel proud of themselves. Allowing them to feel good, gives me a lot pleasure and the horses know it. The return is that they keep trying and learning.
I am very lucky to have such an inviting place to ride and train."
